Glad to know we're moneyed

Mike Keon says enough money was the reason why the Philippines was able to wrap up the crown in the last SEA Games held in RP. Ain't you glad to know that we're moneyed despite claims that our people live below poverty level?
East Timor ended up - no, down - in the cellar. This was expected. The East Timorese team organizers admitted at the very start that they were taking part in the SEAG despite financial constraints. They realized they would come home empty handed but still they were joining the Games in the name of camaraderie and in fulfillment of their commitment to the SEAG authority.
In this light, let's congratulate the Philippines for wrapping up the crown and let's also pat the Team East Timor for living up to their commitment to the SEAG despite the knowledge that they couldn't win a game in the series. For isn't that the true spirit of good sportsmanship?
As for the Thai premier's accusation that the officiating in the SEA Games was biased in favor of the Philippines, no one seemed to give a hoot to it except our President who was reported to have issued an order probing the allegation. The Khrua Thai restaurants in Cebu were full of genuine Thai food eaters - Pinoys and other nationalities - on the day the gripe was published in the papers and after. Khrua Thai is Cebu's No. 1 when it comes to genuine Thai cuisine.
Let me do a good turn for the parish of Our Lady of Lourdes in Punta Princesa (the parish I belong to with pride) by plugging for the launching of its second Marian album entitled "Lady Full of Grace" on Saturday, Dec. 10. This will be held at the parish grounds with the special participation of Raki Vega.
This project is spearheaded by Fr. Randy Figuracion, SDB, together with the strong support of parish priest Fr. Peter Porio, SDB. This commemorative album carries l5 beautiful Marian songs, which are composed, arranged and interpreted by local talents. For more info please get in touch with the Parish, Tel. 261-6935 and look for Glenda Dales Berenio or Laila Saballa.
