Marcos inspects post-harvest facilities in Isabela

MANILA, Philippines — President Marcos yesterday visited the province of Isabela to oversee ongoing efforts aimed at assisting farmers and enhancing access to health services.
Marcos inspected the multipurpose drying pavement and onion cold storage facilities turned over by the government to farmers in Ramon town.
The turnover seeks to address the lack of cold storage and drying facilities in the province, which has resulted in spoilage and forced farmers to sell their produce at lower prices.
Up to 1,500 farmers in Isabela and Nueva Vizcaya are expected to benefit from the storage facility, which can store up to 20,000 bags of onion and prevent spoilage of about 4,000 to 7,000 bags of the bulb, ensuring a year-round market supply and additional income for farmers.
Marcos visited the Ambatali Warehouse and Drying Pavement, which can store 14,000 cavans of palay.
The facility can help preserve the quality of harvest and process up to 3,625 sacks of palay per cropping cycle.
