MANILA, Philippines — Criminal complaints have been filed against four suspects believed behind the breach of the Comelec’s system and other government websites.

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) filed charges against Eden Glenn Petilo, Carlo Reyna, John Kenneth Macarampat and Leonel Obina for violation of Republic Act 10173, or the Data Privacy Act, and RA 10175, or the Cybercrime Prevention Law.

NBI Director Jaime Santiago said the suspects were arrested in an entrapment in Cavite on Tuesday.

The suspects allegedly belong to the Blood Security Hackers, a group responsible for the recent breach of government websites.

The NBI said the group was also responsible for the data breach at Sky Cable.

Santiago said the suspects sell the data they collected to interested buyers.
