MANILA, Philippines — Up to 25,000 jobs are up for grabs for Filipinos aspiring to work in Japan, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) announced over the weekend.

The DMW said a job fair would be held at Robinsons Galleria in Ortigas, Quezon City on Aug. 1 as part of the Philippines - Japan Friendship Week.

Fifteen licensed recruitment agencies are expected to participate in the overseas job fair, which will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Among the jobs available are in the sectors of construction, medical and healthcare, hotel and restaurant as well as customer services.

“It aims to provide a venue for Filipino jobseekers to access legitimate recruiters,” the DMW said.

The DMW will spearhead the observance of the Philippine- Japan Friendship Week in its central office in Mandaluyong today.

The event will highlight the stories of perseverance and resilience of OFWs in Japan through film showing and hybrid greeting sessions.

The DMW said participants would be given free Japanese language lessons.
