3 Luzon dams release water amid rains
MANILA, Philippines — At least three Luzon dams have started to release water as three weather systems continue to bring rains in many areas in the country.
One gate each of Ambuklao and Binga dams were opened at 0.3 meters, releasing water at 59.55 cubic meters per second and 45.78 cms, respectively.
Ambuklao reached 751.63 meters or 0.37 meters below its normal high water level of 752 meters while Binga reached 574.43 meters or 0.57 meters below its normal high water level of 575 meters.
In Isabela, one gate of Magat dam was opened at one meter, releasing water at 252.11 cms after reaching 190.32 meters, or 2.68 meters below the normal high water level of 193 meters.
Meanwhile, the water level of Angat dam improved by 1.08 meters after it reached 211.10 meters yesterday, or just 0.90 meters below its maximum level of 212 meters.
Angat supplies more than 90 percent of Metro Manila’s potable water needs and provides for the irrigation needs of 25,000 hectares of farmlands in Bulacan and Pampanga.
