Shuvee Etrata clarifies exchange between Gerald Anderson, Anthony Constantino’s dad

MANILA, Philippines — Actress-host Shuvee Etrata clarified the reported confrontation between actor Gerald Anderson and the father of her loveteam partner, Anthony Constantino, during a celebrity basketball game in Cebu.
The incident drew attention after Anthony was hurt in a collision with Gerald during the “Bida sa Arena: The Rematch” game held last September 26, prompting Anthony’s father to reportedly stand up from his seat.
In an interview on “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,” Shuvee explained that the reactions were understandable given the competitive nature of basketball.
“I think that really happens. Heated ang game, basketball, it’s a physical game, it happens,” she said.
“Even I, did that, ‘Hoy Gerald!’ Kasi lalo na Bisaya si Gerald tapos Bisaya din ako, so I do that as well and I think, as a father, that’s really, really understandable,” she added.
Shuvee clarified that there was no actual fight between Gerald and Anthony’s father.
According to her, Gerald heard someone shouting and asked who it was. Anthony then told the actor that the person was his father, prompting Gerald to apologize.
“Sabi ni Anthony, ‘That’s my father.’ Tapos ‘yun, sinabi niya (Gerald) kay Anthony, ‘I’m sorry,’” Shuvee recounted.
Anthony had also addressed the incident in an earlier interview on “Unang Hirit,” denying that he and Gerald had fought or argued.
“We’re just two basketball players that love the game and we love to compete. And I will always have respect for Kuya Gerald,” Anthony said.
