Avril Lavigne, Simple Plan make 1st collab track 'Young & Dumb'

MANILA, Philippines — Canadian pop-punk acts Avril Lavigne and Simple Plan have collaborated on the new single "Young & Dumb," a throwback track to the genre's heyday.
Released last May 9, the song begins with Avril singing about touring early in her career, around the time she first met Simple Plan and even worked together on Avril's first arena tour.
"I've been thinkin' 'bout that summer when we had each other, back when we were young and dumb and we knew everything. We said this would last forever, can't get any better, like when we were young and dumb and we had everything," goes the chorus.
Simple Plan takes over the second verse, pointing out the two artists are still performing two decades later "like nothing's changed" and still rocking it out.
The band even referenced their song "I'm Just A Kid" and Avril's "Sk8er Boi," with a skate park, reminiscent of Avril's "Complicated," as one of the locations in the music video.
In an Instagram post announcing the track's release, Avril said she and Simple Plan aimed to capture "that special time in our lives" when they were both just starting out, also dedicating the song to their friends.

"It's a tribute to the past, but also a celebration of the present. In our hearts, we're still those same kids, and our love for music hasn’t changed. It's about friendship, nostalgia, and the way music has kept us connected through the years," she added.
Avril is about to embark on the extension of her "Greatest Hits" tour, which she was staged in North America and Europe last year.
Simple Plan will join Avril on the extension's United States venues while another Canadian singer Fefe Dobson will join the Canada dates.
We The Kings will appear on select tour dates, and Avril's tour extension will include festival appearances like Bonnaroo, When We Were Young, and a headliner set at All Your Friends Fest.
Avril is best known for her songs "Girlfriend," "What the Hell," "Here's To Never Growing Up," and "Alice," while Simple Plan released songs, such as "Perfect," "Jet Lag," "Addicted," and "Welcome to My Life." — Video from Avril Lavigne's YouTube channel
