Former child star Mutya Orquia, newcomers lead romcom flick
MANILA, Philippines — Star Magic talents Mutya Orquia, Beaver Magtalas and Maxine Trinidad will star in an upcoming film "When Magic Hurts."
In an interview with Philstar.com during the special screening of the film, Beaver said he is excited for the movie because it is his first lead role.
"It's a rom-com po with drama. Dito po makikita natin ang buhay ng tatlong personalidad on how they live their lives and how magic hurts. Parang ganon po.
"It's really connected to magic kaya po magic ang title ng movie namin. Makikita niyo po 'yon," he added.
Beaver said it was great working with Maxine and Mutya, who was a child star who starred in several ABS-CBN series including "Mutya" and "Be Careful With My Heart."
"Kami po ni Mutya, we're friends talaga so nakatulong po iyon sa pag-connect namin especially sa mga kilig scenes since we've been comfortable with each other," he said.
"Kay Maxine po, siya po talaga nag-break ng ice between the two of us. I was really shy. Hindi ko kayang lapitan before," he added.
Directed by Gabby Ramos, "When Magic Hurts" was shot in Atok, Benguet.
Its supporting cast members include Dennis Padilla and Angelica Jones, to name a few. Claudine Barreto appears in a special role.
The film will be showing in cinemas on the first week of June.
