Cine Europa 17 features family-oriented films

Joyce Jimenez - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines —Twenty-three films from seventeen countries have joined the seventeenth year of the European Union's Cine Europa festival.

This year, featured films follow the theme on "family," showing how to treasure it and finding it in unlikely places and situations.

"Everyone can relate in the concept of a family," said Dr. Julian Vassallo, EU Delegation Political Counselor, about this year’s theme during his speech at the Cine Europa press conference on Tuesday.

EU Ambassador Guy Ledoux also said in his speech that this year, the RU aims "to showcase the family's continued importance and significance in or lives in spite of its many permutations and the ever-changing nature of parent-child relationships."

Since Cine Europa is now on its seventeenth year with an ever-expanding reach. Zamboanga and Leyte, moreover, have been added to the list of venues.

The first leg of the Cine Europa 17 will be here in Manila on September 11-21 at Shang Cineplex Cinema 2.

This will be proceeded by the following: September 23-28 in Baguio, September 30-October 5 in IloIlo, October 10-12 in Cebu, October 16-19 in Leyte, October 21-26 in Tacloban, October 28-November 2 in Davao, November 4-9 in Zamboanga, and November 13-16 in Cagayan de Oro.
