'Awfully quiet': Albie Casiño slams Slater Young on Monterrazas project silence

MANILA, Philippines — Albie Casiño called out fellow actor Slater Young for remaining silent to the backlash hurled against the latter's Monterrazas de Cebu real estate development.
Young, who is also a civil engineer, faced renewed criticism over Monterrazas as many Internet users blamed the project for worsening floods, while experts warned it could pose serious risks without proper flood control systems.
This is after floods inundated Cebu and caused extensive damage and loss of lives as a result of Typhoon "Tino" earlier this week.
Yesterday, November 7, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources said it is reviewing the development located on the mountainside of Barangay Guadalupe in Cebu City.
The agency said a technical team will begin a "comprehensive on-site investigation" to determine whether the Monterrazas de Cebu project complies with the conditions of its environmental compliance certificate and other existing regulations.
Young previously said that the Monterrazas project is committed to sustainability and environmental compliance, supported by a team that includes sustainability experts, architects and engineers.
Casiño was among the prominent names directly calling out Young by tagging the latter's Instagram handle in a reposted art card of Young's comments about Monterrazas back in 2023.

"Narinig namin lahat ng mga concerns ninyo... our goal here is to listen," Young said at the time, prompting Casiño to say "I thought you were listening to feedback? Seems like you're awfully qui[et] now bud."
Casiño later posted then deleted a photo generated by artificial intelligence of what the effects of the Monterrazas de Cebu development would look like.
"I may have posted an AI-generated image and I apologize for that," Casiño said in another Instagram story. "But that doesn't mean real damage hasn't been done!"
Young and his wife Kryz Uy have since limited the commenting allowed on their Instagram posts. Young did the same for the profiles of Nila Residences and several Monterrazas projects.
He did not, however, limit the comments for his company Litepanel, where its single post from September 2023 is now being bombarded with newer comments demanding accountability.
Young and Casiño both competed on different seasons of "Pinoy Big Brother." Young won "Unlimited" in 2012 while was the second person evicted from "Kumunity Season 10" which ran from 2021 to 2022.
At least 224 people have died and 135 are still missing from the onslaught of "Tino," with the majority of deaths in Cebu. — with reports from Dominique Nicole Flores
