BGYO ready to show growth in first solo concert

The members of the P-pop boy group BGYO can’t wait to show supporters how their music has evolved and how much they’ve grown as artists at their first solo concert at the New Frontier Theater this Oct. 4.
Gelo, Akira, JL, Mikki and Nate were products of ABS-CBN’s “Star Hunt Academy” and debuted as a group in 2021 with The Light as their single.
JL shared at a presscon how pressured they are for their forthcoming gig but at the same time, they are ecstatic to showcase what they’ve become over the past couple of years and their new identity as a group.
“Also watch out for our old songs because we haven’t performed some of the songs in a long time and we’re excited to show the new version and kung sino ang BGYO ngayon,” he added.
As the concert approaches, they have been doing longer and more intense rehearsals, revealed Nate. “We have many adjustments. There are some changes, some things to make something new and we wanna make sure that we’re prepared mentally and physically.
“And personally, I am excited for our performance and of our new EP (‘Headlines’) because it fits the name of our concert — this is our music now and who we are now,” Nate echoed JL.
As for Gelo, he personally felt that ACEs, their fanbase, could look forward to their solo numbers. “We will show our individual talents like how we will perform, our own twist. We are going to perform a solo which we haven’t done before, that’s why we’re excited.”
He further told The STAR that the music event is their way of giving back to the ACEs who stood by them and came back despite everything they went through.
“And to all our new fans, new ACEs, this is our way to introduce ourselves and to show you guys what we’ve got. And gusto naming sabihin sa inyo na you, guys, are welcome and it’s gonna be a fun night for everyone,” said Gelo.
Akira, on the other hand, enticed the fans to watch out for the stage design. He also reflected on how the group has grown in terms of their focus and mindset.
“Before, we got easily distracted kapag sinasabi ng mga tao sa paligid and everything, but throughout time, we learned how to control the noises around us and just focus on what matters, which is our music and our growth as an artist.”
Mikki, on the other hand, hoped to reunite with the ACEs who have been with them ever since they were trainees. They also want to meet new fans. “So if you haven’t seen us yet, buy your tickets to see us live,” he teased.

Ahead of their show, BGYO dropped their EP “Headlines,” which is composed of their previously released title track Headlines, the viral single All These Ladies, and the newer ones, Dance With Me and Aloe Vera.
Mikki asserted that their latest offering is “very special” to them because “it shows how much we’ve grown through the years and how our music evolved.”
“Before, we were trying to experiment with our sounds and we are proud of our new releases, especially this year. And to our new ‘Headlines’ EP, we’re really grateful and excited to release all the music na matagal na naming tinatago. I think it shows maturity and growth of BGYO as an artist and as a person.”
Mikki promised their fans that they will be releasing more Tagalog songs in the future.
The P-pop quintet was recently nominated as International Rising Artist in Brazil’s Breaktudo Awards 2025 and performed at Summer Sonic Bangkok 2025 along with international artists like Alicia Keys, Black Eyed Peas and Camila Cabello.
