Several Filipino celebrities have come together to support a campaign that offers both physical and emotional healing for individuals living with visible scars.

Launched as “The Scar Project” by the Belo Medical Group last June 10, the initiative gathered a star-studded lineup of ambassadors including Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray, Kapuso actor Alden Richards, celebrity couple Matteo Guidicelli and Sarah Geronimo, as well as other stars such as Donny Pangilinan, Iza Calzado, Bianca Umali, Isabelle Daza, Julia Barretto and broadcast journalist Korina Sanchez.

According to its official website, “The Scar Project” seeks to find seven individuals who are willing to share the personal stories behind their scars, whether caused by accidents, surgery, abuse, or self-harm.

Those selected will receive free, personalized scar treatment plans supporting their physical recovery and emotional well-being. Their journeys will be documented and shared through the campaign’s website and social media platforms to inspire others and spread a message of hope.

Among the stories shared at the launch was that of Kapamilya star Piolo Pascual’s personal driver, Rissan Mueslos, who sustained a severe facial injury during the pandemic. Thanks to a comprehensive six-month treatment journey, supported by medical care and emotional guidance, he was able to regain his facial features and confidence.

In a media statement, Belo Medical Group founder Dr. Vicki Belo said: “We have been preparing for this for a long time. It’s difficult to treat scars, but it’s even harder when you carry emotional pain as well. That’s why we’re here — not just to treat, but to walk with you through your healing journey.”

Her husband, Dr. Hayden Kho, added: “This is for those who wake up every day seeing reminders of their past. We want to help them regain their self-confidence.”

In a report by PEP.ph, Dr. Kho also expressed hopes of unveiling the seven chosen participants during the medical company’s 35th anniversary on Aug. 8.

Applications for “The Scar Project” are open. Interested individuals may submit their stories through the project’s official website and check out the official social media pages for details.
