Nominations out for The EDDYS 2025; awards night set for July 20

The Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors (SPEEd) has announced the nominees for the 8th Entertainment Editors’ Choice Awards (The EDDYS), with “Green Bones” emerging as the most nominated film. The GMA Pictures and GMA Public Affairs co-production earned a total of nine nominations across major and technical categories.
Close behind is “Hello, Love Again” with eight nods, while “Isang Himala” and “Outside” received seven nominations each. All four films are competing in the Best Picture category, alongside “Love Child” and “Under a Piaya Moon.”
In the Best Director category, nods went to Cathy Garcia-Sampana (“Hello, Love Again”), Pepe Diokno (“Isang Himala”), Zig Dulay (“Green Bones”), Jonathan Jurilla (“Love Child”), Carlo Ledesma (“Outside”) and Kurt Soberano (“Under a Piaya Moon”).
This year’s Best Actor nominees include Arjo Atayde (“Topakk”), Vice Ganda (“And the Breadwinner Is…”), Sid Lucero (“Outside”), Alden Richards (“Hello, Love Again”), Kokoy de Santos (“Your Mother’s Son”), Joel Torre (“Lolo and the Kid”) and Dennis Trillo (“Green Bones”).
For Best Actress, the nominees are Shamaine Centenera-Buencamino (“Pushcart Tales”), Mylene Dizon (“The Hearing”), Jane Oineza (“Love Child”), Sue Prado (“Your Mother’s Son”), Marian Rivera (“Balota”) and Judy Ann Santos (“Espantaho”).

Competing for Best Supporting Actress are Elora Españo (“Your Mother’s Son”), Nadine Lustre (“Uninvited”), Cristine Reyes (“The Kingdom”), Chanda Romero (“Espantaho”), Kakki Teodoro (“Isang Himala”) and Lorna Tolentino (“Espantaho”).
In the writing category, Best Screenplay nominations went to Ricky Lee and Angeli Atienza for “Green Bones,” Vicente Groyon for “Under a Piaya Moon,” Carmi Raymundo and Crystal San Miguel for “Hello, Love Again,” Carlo Ledesma and Anton Santamaria for “Outside,” Ricky Lee and Jose Lorenzo Diokno for “Isang Himala,” and Arden Rod Condez and Arianna Martinez for “Love Child.”
For Best Editing, the recognized works are “Green Bones” (Benjamin Tolentino), “Hello, Love Again” (Marya Ignacio), “Love Child” (John Paul Ponce), “Pushcart Tales” (Marya Ignacio) and “My Future You” (Vanessa Ubas de Leon).
The Best Cinematography category features Neil Daza (“Green Bones”), Shing Fung Cheung (“Outside”), Natahan Bringuer (“Under a Piaya Moon”), Dan Villegas (“Kono Basho”) and Neil Daza again for “Espantaho.”
In Best Production Design, the nominees are Nestor Abrogena (“The Kingdom”), Jed Sicangco and Kurt Soberano (“Under a Piaya Moon”), John Edward Sicangco (“Outside”), Norico D. Santos (“Hello, Love Again”) and Maolen Fadul (“Green Bones”).
Sound design gets its due with Best Sound nominees including “Topakk” (Jhon Eric Mancera, Donald Ilagan and team), “Espantaho” (Alex Yomboc, Lamberto Casa Jr.), “Isang Himala” (Mark Locsin, Teresa Barrozo, Narra Post), “Strange Frequencies: Taiwan Killer Hospital” (Ditoy Aguila) and “The Kingdom” (Narra Post, Studios by Wildsound).

In the Best Musical Score race are Vincent de Jesus (“Isang Himala”), Teresa Barrozo (“And the Breadwinner Is”), Ammie Ruth Suarez (“Un/Happy for You”), Jessie Lasaten (“Hello, Love Again”) and Len Calvo (“Green Bones”).
Nominees for Best Original Theme Song include Ang Himala ay Nasa Puso from “Isang Himala” (music and lyrics by Vincent de Jesus, performed by Juan Karlos), Topak from “Topakk” (Bassilyo, Sisa, CrazyMix), Luha sa Dilim from “Guilty Pleasure” (Yanco), Mahal Kita from “Road to Happy” (VJ Mendoza) and Hahamakain ang Lahat from “Uninvited” (KZ Tandingan and Arthur Nery).
Finally, for Best Visual Effects, the contenders are “The Kingdom” (Riot, Inc.), “Espantaho” (Gaspar Mangarin, Walter Monte), “My Future You” (Santelmo Studio Inc.), “Outside” (The Post Office), “Strange Frequencies: Taiwan Killer Hospital” (Mothership Inc.), and “Topakk” (Rhance Cariño).
The awards night will be held on July 20 at the Marriott Grand Ballroom in Pasay City. A delayed telecast will air on Kapamilya Channel and Jeepney TV, with iWantTFC streaming the show internationally beginning July 27.
The Eddys 2025 is presented by Playtime in cooperation with Newport World Resorts and ABS-CBN. Co-presenters are Globe and Unilab. It is supported by Sen. Camille Villar, Beautederm Corporation, Luxxe White, Puregold CinePanaloFilm Festival, Kat Corpus and My Daily Collagen, with co-production by Brightlight Entertainment and direction by Eric Quizon.
