Selena Gomez reveals Golden Globes gossip with Taylor Swift wasn't about Timothee Chalamet, Kylie Jenner
MANILA, Philippines — Actress Selena Gomez clarified rumors about what she was discussing with her close friend Taylor Swift at the 2024 Golden Globes after many assumed the gossip was about celebrity couple Timothee Chalamet and Kylie Jenner.
Selena and Taylor were both nominees at the recent Globes hosted by Filipino-American comedian Jo Koy. Selena was up for Best Television Lead Actress - Comedy/Musical for "Only Murders in the Building" while Taylor's "Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour" was nominated for the new Cinematic and Box Office Achievement award.
Both lost to Ayo Edebiri from "The Bear" and the summer blockbuster "Barbie," respectively.
Sometime during the ceremony, Selena was caught by cameras moving to Taylor's table to speak with her and another friend Keleigh Sperry.
Internet users assumed the trio were gossipping about Timothee and Kylie after the latter allegedly stopped Timothee from snapping a photo with Selena.
Timothee and Selena previously starred together in Woody Allen's 2019 movie "A Rainy Day in New York."
But a source close to Selena told People magazine that during the women's conversation, Selena was "absolutely not referencing anything about Timothee or Kylie" and that the actress "never even saw or spoke to them."
The rumor was likely raised because of an issue last year where fans speculated that Kylie and Hailey Bieber, whose husband Justin is Selena's ex-boyfriend, were making fun of Selena's eyebrows.
Both Kylie and Hailey quickly denied that was the case, and even Selena expressed her support for Hailey.
In an Instagram post by E!News, Selena further explained that she was telling Taylor about two friends of hers that hooked up, "Not that that’s anyone's business."
Selena spent the rest of the ceremony celebrating with co-stars and colleagues, ending the night with boyfriend Benny Blanco.
