Lovi Poe launches dream production company
MANILA, Philippines — Kapamilya actress Lovi Poe has officially launched her own production company, wittingly named C’est Lovi Productions, with several projects already lined up.
According to a report by Deadline, C’est Lovi Productions will focus on "showcasing Filipino stories and artists in the international marketplace." Poe's boyfriend and "Escape Plan 2" executive producer Montgomery Blencowe is her partner in running the company.
Poe posted a screenshot of Deadline's article on her Instagram account to express how excited she was about the launch.
"It’s been a passion of mine to be in the business of making films in front of the camera for a number of years already, and as I continue to do that I’d like to be behind the camera too and develop projects from the beginning," Poe wrote in the caption.
The actress also mentioned FPJ Productions, created by her late father, National Artist Fernando Poe Jr., and how she hopes her own company will continue the legacy of sharing Filipino stories to the world.
She also wished an advanced happy birthday to her father, who would have turned 83 on August 20. FPJ passed away in 2004 from a stroke at the age of 65.
Primary among C’est Lovi Productions' planned projects is the movie "Lady Luck," which stars Poe herself under the direction of Niall Johnson, with a screenplay by Geordie Kieffer and Mitch Toler.
Director Jerrold Tarog — best known for "Heneral Luna," "Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral," and "Bliss" — is set to direct the psychological thriller "Alyssa" for C’est Lovi Productions.
Poe had previously starred in Tarog's 2011 film "Aswang," a remake of the 1992 original by the late Peque Gallaga, and in "Shake, Rattle, and Roll Fourteen: The Invasion" which Tarog scored alongside Carmina Cuya and Von de Guzman.
The two were also involved in "Shake, Rattle & Roll XV" where Tarog directed the segment "Ulam" starring Dennis Trillo and Carla Abellana while Poe appeared in the "Flight 666" segment with Matteo Guidicelli.
In 2021, Poe signed a contract with ABS-CBN Entertainment after 15 years with GMA Network.
She currently appears in the Filipino adaptation of the South Korean drama of the same name, "Flower of Evil," opposite Piolo Pascual. Lovi will star with Janine Gutierrez in the upcoming web series "Sleep With Me." She is also set to appear in the movies "The Other Wife" and the international production "The Chelsea Cowboy" with Alex Pettyfer and Poppy Delevingne.
