Valerie Weigmann thanks Pinoys for support despite loss
MANILA, Philippines - Valerie Weigmann thanked Filipinos who supported her during the Miss World 2014 pageant in London on Sunday.
The 25-year-old TV host-actress represented the country in the international beauty pageant, in the hopes of succeeding Miss World 2013 Megan Young. But Valerie only made it up to the quarter finals.

“Even the bumpiest road feels so much shorter when shared with people who care. This journey would not have been as wonderful without the love, warmth and support of so many people. You made this an amazing experience for me. Your love and support turned a challenging competition into an adventurous voyage. Your friendship made it all worthwhile,” Valerie said in an Instagram post on Wednesday.
She added: “I intend to spend the next year showing each of You how much I appreciate your being there for me. Thank you. Thank you for the positivity. Thank you for believing.”
“Journeys end so that new ones may begin. I hope that you can join me this coming year as we embark to explore new horizons; as we further our goal of helping to improve the lives of others and in raising awarenes about various issues close to our hearts.”
Former beauty queens such as Ruffa Gutierrez and Lara Quigaman expressed their support for Valerie over her Miss World loss as well.

Valerie’s fate in the Miss World 2014 pageant means the Philippines only has one beauty pageant title holder for 2014--Jamie Herrell, who won the Miss Earth 2014 pageant earlier this month.
