What really pleases Kim

Bot Glorioso - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Kim Chiu had a wide smile plastered on her face when she made a grand entrance at the Goya chocolates affair carrying the theme Celebrate Everyday With Goya last Thursday night at the Circle Events Place in Timog, Quezon City. The guest of honor and Goya endorser thrilled everyone with an upbeat greeting. Hmmn, Kim must have eaten a lot of chocolates that made her feel good and ready to mingle with the crowd that was all agog to pose for a picture with her.

Kim shared that she has a sweet tooth, gorging on chocolates most of the time. Host Cesca Litton even teased that Kim’s slim build contradicts her revelation. Given Kim’s petite frame, who else could tell that chocolates are fattening? Oh well, it must have something to do with one’s body metabolism.

The Star Magic talent added that even before she was tapped to endorse Goya, she has been familiar with the chocolate brand since her elementary and high school days.

“I remember when I was in elementary until high school, my favorites were Goya white chocolate and milk chocolate. Every lunch time or dismissal time in school, I would always buy Goya chocolates at least three or four pieces. Each cost around P6 or P8 before so (the price) enough with my baon. And then I would share them with friends during recess time while exchanging funny stories. Then, before going home, if I still had money to spare from my allowance, I would buy Goya chocolates again as pasalubong for my siblings.”

That’s why Kim never had second thoughts when her handler told her regarding an offer to be part of the Goya family. “That (offer) was two years ago and until now I’m very happy, very proud that I’m still endorsing these delicious products of Goya.”

In a press statement, Goya GM Josenilo Chincuanco admitted that the road in establishing the chocolate brand was not easy and it took a lot of effort from both management and workers to bring Goya where it once was, in a level where it can compete with other established brands in the market. He recognized the fact that Kim has become instrumental in elevating the awareness level on Goya, particularly among the younger generation who may have not known that there is a fully home-grown chocolate brand that is as delicious as its imported counterparts but not as expensive.

And if there is one memorable TVC for Kim, it would be her first commercial with Goya where she is seen contorting her body so as to resemble a twisted pretzel. Kim said that people would still ask her if she could really contort her body to which she would often affirm in the positive.

“Isn’t it amazing (borrowing her famous line in Bride for Rent) to endorse what you love? Besides, eating chocolates definitely gives a happy feeling.”

But with or without chocolates, Kim said that seeing her family every time she wakes up in the morning is enough to start her day happy. Her fans also never fail to make Kim smile every time she checks on her Twitter and Instagram accounts. “Knowing that they are always there to support me and they appreciate what I do, mean so much to me.”

And since a lot have already known how Kim fares as an actress and endorser, Kim gamely revealed more of herself as she completed each sentence below. Read on.

When I was young, I wanted to grow up to be…a member of a fastfood crew, especially the one who makes French fries. Every time I’d see them cooking, I’d be amazed but, of course, that was before. I’m all grown-up now and I certainly love what I’m doing now.

The one thing that scares me the most… are cats. While everybody loves cats, ako naman sobra akong takot sa kanila kasi hinahabol ako ng mga pusa noong bata pa ko so after that nagka-phobia na ko. Second is monster, whether it exists or not basta takot din ako.

My craziest experience… was when I and my sister went to Macau to explore the place. While strolling, we saw this building where they (people) do bungee-jumping so even if it was not in our plan, we tried and jumped. Sobrang sigaw ako dun but I loved it.

During my free time, I usually spend it… at home because it’s my rest day and a time to spend with my family. I’m a super homebody.

My most prized possession/s is/are…my signature bags because I really love bags. How many collections do I have? I don’t exactly know the number basta isang kwarto na sya, yung maliit na kwarto lang.

My summer plans… we are planning to have a show with other Star Magic artists probably before the summer ends bale working vacation na din.

Kim is also seen Sundays in ASAP 19 and will soon star in a Kapamilya period drama series titled Ikaw Lamang opposite Coco Martin.
