Terno Recordings artists Pulso and Skymarines open for Irish math/post rock band Enemies tomorrow at 19 East

MANILA, Philippines - We sat down with Robby Mananquil of Pulso and Isa Añiga aka Skymarines and asked them about sharing the stage with an exciting international act, the latest in a long line of firsts they’ve experienced after being signed by indie music behemoth Terno Recordings.

How has the year been so far for Pulso?

Robby Mananquil: 2013 for us has been a big blessing. Really overwhelming and surreal. So far it’s been an awesome journey. Last May, we were invited to play at the 2013 CAMA Festival in Vietnam which was our  first gig out of the country. We had a great music bonding experience with other bands and we were very happy having the opportunity to share our music witha multi-cultural audience. We also got to share the stage with Temper Trap, Neon Trees, Nada Surf, and more for the successful 1st Wanderland Festival here in the Philippines. Then my long-time dream of scoring a movie also came true as we did a two-hour live score for
the 2013 International Silent Film Festival Manila, which was a greatand unforgettable experience.

And just last month, we also opened for Up Dharma Down in Singapore and we were justblown away with the warm and sweet reception of the crowd.

This year has surely been a proudly Filipino moment for us, having had the opportunity to play in Vietnam and Singapore.

How does it feel to open for one of your favorite bands?

RM: Sharing the stage with artists I respect and look up to is another dream come true for me. I always enjoy watching live bands as I always get inspired and learn from their craft. I cannot wait to
share the stage with them, hang out with them and hopefully talk music and culture.

How have things changed for you since signing with Terno Recordings?

Isa Añiga:  I still am the same person except that I now belong to a family of artists I look up to and respect, and who happen to share the same passion and interests as I do. That and performing live with Terno artists is definitely something new to me.”

What can your fans expect from you in the near future or in 2014?

IA: I am currently working on my album and am hoping it can be released soon!

Local music fans have been eagerly awaiting this event ever since the announcement of the Enemies’ Manila gig.

Formed in the summer of 2007, the four -piece band Enemies has since been creating expansive and complex math-rock while maintaining a simple ethos of self-sufficiency, having come out of Ireland’s thriving DIY music scene. Following the releaseof their EP “Alpha Waves” and their debut LP “We’ve Been Talking”, the group toured Europe and parts of Asia, making waves in Japan, in particular. And with their sophomore album “Embark, Embrace”, it’s time for the Manila audience to enjoy the hopeful and jubilant sounds of this album, along with their recognisable melodic interplays and technical prowess, live and up close.

Tomorrow, the place to be for all music enthusiasts is 19 East in Sucat, Paranaque, for an evening of amazing music with Enemies, Pulso, and Skymarines.
