Jessica Sanchez fans campaign for 1-M Twitter followers
MANILA, Philippines - American Idol Season 11's Jessica Sanchez only finished second at the high-profile singing contest, but she had been topping Twitter trends this week.
Thanks to Sanchez' avid fans, the campaign #JayTo1Million became among the most talked-about topics in the Philippines, encouraging other Filipinos to follow the star on the microblogging site.

Sanchez, an American with Mexican and Filipino ancestry, boasts of 980,000 followers as of posting time, while American Idol winner Phillip Phillips only has 578,000 to date.
She also became a top trending topic with the hashtag #FollowJessicaSanchez last Friday, driven by fans wishing to promote the artist's upcoming first solo concert on Valentines' Day in Manila.
Sanchez herself reported on her Twitter and Facebook accounts that she had been spending the first month of the year rehearsing for the concert, which will also feature American Idol contestant Colton Dixon.
