FCCP marks 33rd year

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Today marks the 33rd anniversary of the Friends for Cultural Concerns of the Philippines (FCCP), founded in 1979 for the nurture and development of young and talented Filipino artists. This occasion will be celebrated with a dinner-concert featuring internationally-acclaimed artist Lea Salonga, to be accompanied by the orchestra of her brother, Gerard. Lea was introduced to a highly appreciative audience in 1979 during the first fundraising venture of FCCP when it sponsored the musical Annie.

The annual ball is handled by FCCP president Nene Leonor, director-in-charge Nene Pe-Lim and chairperson Nonie Basilio.

Proceeds from the event will go to FCCP’s projects such as its scholarship program, which currently supports 10 scholars from the UP College of Music & Fine Arts, the outreach project that brings arts and culture to the high school students of Makati, afternoon gathering featuring upcoming artists/performers music enthusiasts, as well as other cultural undertakings.

Major sponsors for the event are PBL Group of Co.’s, Imelda Cojuangco, DMCI, Inc., PGA Cars and CATS Motors.
