Superbods winners promote lifestyle of health & wellness

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Century Tuna introduces this year’s new breed of Superbods. They were chosen because they live up to the brand’s concept of total fitness — having not only a healthy body, but also a healthy mind.

“This year, we’re introducing not just two, but four new Superbods who indeed personify the Century Tuna healthy lifestyle. They keep a healthy diet and are physically active. Indeed, they are true ambassadors of health and wellness who are ready to inspire Filipinos to get into a healthy lifestyle,” says Angela Gamboa, Century Tuna senior product manager.

The new Superbods 2010 are 18-year-old nursing student Lea Yosalina, 21-year-old psychology student Jillian Lua, 21-year-old TV host/model Renzie Ongkiko, and 23-year-old civil engineer Van Vincent Leaño.

They bested hundreds of model hopefuls who lined up at the Superbods go-see conducted during the Century Tuna Superbods Run 2010 — the country’s biggest and most star-studded celebration of health and fitness. As the new Superbods, they got P100,000 each and were featured in Century Tuna ads.

Although it was her first time to join a go-see, Lea looked every inch a Superbod with her fit figure achieved through regular jogging, and playing badminton and football. Helping her stay in shape is Century Tuna Hot and Spicy, which she says is “part of my low-carb diet. I also look at it as my brain-booster and mood enhancer, especially when I have to be on duty at the hospital.”

For Jillian, regular exercise, dancing and sports like badminton, swimming and volleyball help maintain her figure, which indeed stood out among the Superbod wannabes. “I love that my favorite Century Tuna Hot and Spicy has all the nutrients to help me keep a positive attitude and a fit body. I’d like to inspire people and let them know that living healthy is fun, too!” she says.

Being an athlete paid off for model and TV host Renzie. Dragon boat rowing, flag football, wakeboarding, surfing, mixed martial arts, Frisbee, and basketball are just among the sports that helped him land a spot at the elite Superbods roster. Being a regular tuna eater made a big difference, too. “Even way back in college, I was already a big tuna fan! For me, it’s the healthiest way to stay in shape and keep a healthy body. I eat it three to four times a week and mix it up with crushed whole wheat crackers, which make my diet even more nutritious.”

Van Vincent has the body worthy of a Superbod. Although busy with his work as an engineer, he goes to the gym regularly and engages in wakeboarding, volleyball and basketball. Because he’s such a fitness buff, it’s natural that Van Vincent is also a healthy eater. “I refrain from eating oily and fatty food. That’s why Century Tuna Chunks in Water fits my lifestyle so well. It’s healthy, low in cholesterol and high in protein, which helps support my physical activities,” shares Vincent.

With their discipline and drive to live the healthy life, the new Superbods have what it takes to inspire others in pursuing a lifestyle of health and wellness.
