Taipei in the eyes of Pinoy Sunday

MANILA, Philippines - Moviegoers will get a different perspective on Taipei through Pinoy Sunday, a new film by Malaysian Chinese director Wi Ding Ho depicting the lives of OFWs in Taiwan.

Ho’s first feature film presents the fantastic landscape of Taiwan’s capital city through the eyes of two Filipino workers as they share one eventful day.

Based on true stories that Ho obtained through four years of field research, Pinoy Sunday tells the story of Manuel (Epy Quizon) and Dado (Bayani Agbayani), two young Filipino men working in a Taipei suburb. They live in an illegally built dormitory on top of a factory, and often have to endure their supervisor’s bad temper. Despite unsatisfactory conditions, they always look on the bright side of life and find comfort in religion and love. One day they find a red sofa on the street and decide to carry it back to their dorm. What follows is a hilarious yet poignant journey as the two meet various characters and encounter different obstacles along the way.

Due to its special subject and hilarious scenes, Pinoy Sunday has been selected as the only foreign film sponsored by Japan’s NHK in 2010 and the opening film in the 2010 Taipei Golden Horse Fantastic Film Festival.
