UST Cine Vita holds Brillante Mendoza Festival

MANILA, Philippines - Upholding cinema as a tool for meaningful expression of life, the Varsitarian, the 81-year-old official student publication of UST, is holding Cine Vita Film Festival 2009 tomorrow, Feb. 26 and Feb. 27 at the Thomas Aquinas Research Complex Auditorium, UST, España, Manila.

Now on its third year, Cine Vita features indie films directed by Brillante “Dante” Mendoza, a Fine Arts graduate of the university, who will talk after each screening.

Among the films are Serbis, Foster Child, Tirador and Kaleldo.

This summer, Cine Vita will hold a film workshop with the participants to be granted scholarships by the Varsitarian. The workshops will be handled by Jim Libiran, director of Tribu, the 2007 Cinemalaya grand-prix winner and 2008 Youth Prize winner of the Paris Cinematheque.
