A treasure through & through

SIZZLING HOT - Juliana Palermo -

Imagination is pretty much the only thing that can soar through and beyond anything and everything.

As a writer, I sometimes wonder where I get certain ideas from. Sometimes, I imagine how things would be if the whole world was pink, or if humans and animals could fly.

Our imagination is more than able to manipulate our emotions and reactions.

Our hopes and dreams are made up of imaginings slowly coming to life. Depending on how determined we are, it brings us closer to our heart’s desire. Everything goes through a process, where we filter all the flaws as much as we can before they are sent out to this world.

I often wonder what else is going on behind what we see in the news. After watching American films lately, I’m starting to think there might be some things the networks can’t air on TV.

I saw I Am Legend last week, then decided to watch National Treasure: Book of Secrets with Nicolas Cage.

The movie is about a man named Ben Gates (Cage), great great grandson of Thomas Gates.

Thomas was known as a puzzle solver during his time. He was asked to decode a cipher brought by a couple of men on the same day Abraham Lincoln was assassinated.

After decoding the cipher and realizing this led to a treasure map, he figures that the two men are still loyal to the confederate and have a sinister motive in finding the treasure.

They pull a gun on Thomas, threatening him to continue on decoding the diary they brought, or they will shoot him.

Thomas refuses to hand the diary over. Neither does he tell them what he has deciphered from it. The chaos that erupts in the bar after Lincoln is assassinated distracts the confederate man.

Thomas decides to rip a few pages from the diary and throws them into the fireplace.

Many years later, we find Cage as Benjamin Gates, Thomas’ great great grandson, telling his story at a conference until a black market dealer interrupts.

This man, Mitch Wilkinson, brings out one of the 18 missing pages from John Wilkes Booth’s diary with Thomas Gates’ name on it.

He wants to prove that Ben Gates’ great great grandfather masterminded Lincoln’s assassination.

Gates obviously disapproved and did

everything he to could prove Wilkinson wrong.

Alongside his friend Riley Poole and girlfriend Abigail Chase, Ben found ways to get to this map, if there was one.

They traveled everywhere to find all the clues to decoding this new piece they had found. All throughout, Wilkinson is right behind them, constantly trying to get ahead of them.

A part of the missing puzzle is inside what they called the Book of Secrets, which only the President knew where to find.

Ben desperately wants to arrange for a meeting with the President.

The adventure continues and every minute of the movie is very crucial. This isn’t something you can get up for even for a quick bathroom break.

The story is well-written and every scene is well-executed. I can’t tell you how the story ends because it’s different when you watch it in theaters.

After I saw the movie, I couldn’t help but wonder what would happen if we had our own Book of Secrets which only our Presidents know about.

I know it’s a silly question, but is fun to imagine the possibilities.

Have a great week ahead and I hope you enjoy National Treasure: Book Of Secrets as much as I did.
