Kris drops libel case

Alls well that ends well. Kris Aquino started the week on a happy note when she decided to settle the P80-M libel case she filed against GMA OIC for corporate communication Butch Raquel and Tet Defensor. The settlement came after Raquel and Defensor issued an apology letter to Kris.
The letter to Kris, coursed through lawyer Siegfried Fortun, read:
We wish to sincerely apologize for any injury that may have been inflicted on your person and integrity as a result of the publication of a column feed containing statements against you.
We assure you that we did not have the intention to ridicule and embarrass you.
GMA 7 Entertainment Publicity head Jaycee Perlas said Raquel apologized in his personal capacity, not in behalf of the network. Kris was accompanied by boyfriend James Yap when she signed the affidavit of desistance that ended the libel suit last Monday.
The date, Aug. 8, she revealed, was an auspicious day for a reconciliation since it had two number eights, August being the eighth month of the year.
Kris, Raquel and Defensor met at the sala of Judge Selma Alaras of the Makati Regional Trial Court.
Kris earlier told Raquel and Defensor that she was amenable to a settlement if there is an apology from them.
The libel suit stemmed from an e-mailed column feed from Defensor which questioned Kris character.
