Jeffrey enjoys his role as Peeping Tom in Boso

There are all sorts of hobbies, each one more enjoyable than the other if we are to believe those who practice. Some though are truly more interesting than what meets the eye.
Take the case of Jake, the main character of the motion picture Boso from Digital Viva. Played by the talented Jeffrey Quizon, he is the caretaker of a rooming house, he has to live with all types of people. Because he works at home he has a lot of time on his hands and access to every nook and cranny of the big old house.
It does not take Jake long to discover what will be his most enjoyable hobby, keeping watch on his tenants. Through holes in the ceiling he looks down and like some god checks out on what they are doing. Is this teenage girl going to tease her boyfriend again? Is this spinster going to do her striptease dance again? Is the reclusive old man still alive amidst his memories? Is the light-fingered boy going to steal more money from his mother? Is he going to get a free live sex act tonight? He hopes it will not be the fat middle-aged couple though.
Like some superior being, Jake crawls across the ceiling as he checks out his charges. The knowledge that he is fully aware of what is happening to their lives makes him feel superior. He helps when he can but also knows that he has no power to change their lives. He makes the mistake of trying to do so when the lovely bride Cecilia and her husband move into one of the rooms.
While he behaved like some disinterested deity playing with his toys before, Jake now wants to actively participate in Cecilias life and the outcome of this decision is one that he will regret very much.
Jeffrey Quizon is the son of the countrys most admired comedian, Dolphy. While that situation has brought about lots of unfair comparisons between Dolphy and his children, Jeffrey has over these past years earned his own identity and acting style by taking on quirky and varied roles. For example, he was the nondescript young killer of Radyo but he is now also the fatherly art teacher on TV.
Much of what Jake is comes from Jeffrey, who was encouraged by award-winning independent filmmaker Jon Red to put as much of himself in the part. "I read the script then I allow the character to develop inside me," says Jeffrey. "Wala akong hilig sa pamboboso and I do not know kung nabosohan na ko so I was really excited about Jake because he is a very new character for me to play."
Boso will be shown exclusively at Robinsons cinemas. It opens at Robinsons Galleria on April 13 and will be shown in the other theaters later. It also stars Katya Santos, Allen Dizon, Ella V. and Jaycee Parker. Featured in cameo roles are Bembol Roco, Joel Torre, Ronnie Lazaro and Tado.
