As timeless as their music

The APO Hiking Society has been in the entertainment industry long before America heard of Osama Bin Laden. They have created beautiful music for over 30 years, and unlike the Taliban forces, they show no signs of retreating. Their brilliance is non-negotiable. Their magic is aligned with both the north and south alliances of the entertainment industry.
Some people wonder why I venerate the APO. It has nothing to do with age, really. After all, if you see Buboys grin, youd think he hasnt passed puberty. It has something to do with their music simple, fun, Pinoy and timeless. They write songs that make you smile, because they say things you would say yourself under the rain, in the darkness, even during revolutions.
No, I am not nominating APO for beatification. They would not like it. Aside from being young and alive, on Dec. 18, they will have a special Christmas concert titled Rated APO at 9 p.m. at Onstage Greenbelt. APO fans are up for a night of fun, live entertainment when the group spices up the evening with their well-loved hits and their brand of comedy, some holiday tunes and of course, their signature potshots on life, love and politics.
Tickets for Rated APO, priced at P1200, P600 and P900, are available at Don Henricos, National Bookstore, Tower Records, Robinsons Department Store Ticketworld Outlets and at the Onstage Greenbelt Ticketron. For details call tel. no. 8915610 or 8105437.
Recently, DJ Joel Lai invaded the Philippines with his distinct sound of dark, progressive and tribal beats via a party at Wherelse?. Tagged as Hong Kongs number one DJ, Joel Lai has performed alongside Paul Oakenfield, Pete Tong and Boy George. He has also brought to Hong Kong techno bigwigs Nick Warren, Paul Van Dyk, John Digweed, Goldie and Qattara. DJ Joels performance was broadcast live over NU 107s Open House hosted by Katrina Tuason.
