MANILA, Philippines — Actor-comedian Jayson Gainza revealed that Piolo Pascual played a pivotal role in helping him quit smoking, a habit he said he finally gave up in 2010.

Gainza shared the story during his recent contract signing with OWEN Regenerative and Longevity in Quezon City. The actor was asked how he has maintained a healthier lifestyle over the years.

According to Jayson, Piolo encouraged him to stop smoking while they were working together in the 2006 television series "Sa Piling Mo." The advice stayed with him and eventually inspired him to quit smoking for good four years later.

"Natutunan ko kay Piolo, 'Sa Piling Mo,' aking first teleserye. Sabi niya sa akin, yosi ako ng yos (smoking)i. Si Piolo ayaw niya ng nag-yoyosi. Minsan nasa taping kami, may isa akong kaha. Dinampot niya, ginusot niya. Sabi niya, ’Itigil mo ’yan. Ikamamatay mo ‘yan,’” Jayson said.

“Tapos nag-kwentuhan kami sabi niya, ’Alam mo Jason, ‘pag 30 ka na, talagang alagaan mo na sarili mo, mag-exercise ka na. Kasi, hindi ka na bata, baka mamaya magkasakit ka pa.’ Tumatak ’yon sa isip ko,” he said.

Jayson took Piolo's advice to heart, prompting him to adopt a healthier lifestyle when he reached his 30s.

“Kaya nang 30s ako, talagang, 'yun, mini-maintain ko na lang talaga, kumbaga inalagaan mo, mag-exercise, tapos, iwas mga pagkain. For example, coke, 'yung mga sugar, mga instant noodles,” he said.

Apart from Jayson, actors Tony Labrusca, John Vic de Guzman, Sam YG, and host Sam Colosa were unveiled as the brand's ambassadors.

Meanwhile, television host Pia Guanio, content creator Sachzna Laparan, and Maricel Tulfo were introduced as ambassadors of the wellness place, The SB Clinic.

The two initiatives are led by Dr. John Paul C. Pareja and operations manager Angelica Pareja, who said the partnerships aim to encourage more Filipinos to take a proactive approach to their health and well-being.

By partnering with well-known personalities from television, film, and digital media, the campaigns seek to inspire the public to embrace wellness as a long-term commitment rather than a response to illness.
