MANILA, Philippines — Days after the child abuse complaint against Rob Sy and his partner, Jovelle Bacosa, was dismissed, the actor addressed what he described as false allegations against his family.

On April 13, 2026, Alfred Vargas and Yasmine Espiritu-Vargas filed a complaint for violation of Section 10(a) of Republic Act No. 7610, or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act, against Rob and Jovelle before the Office of the City Prosecutor of Manila.

In a resolution issued by the Office of the City Prosecutor of Manila on May 12, 2026, the complaints filed by Alfred and Yasmine against Rob and Jovelle were dismissed.

The resolution found insufficient basis to proceed with the complaints against Rob and Jovelle.

According to Rob, the prosecutor's dismissal of the complaint last month supports his claim that his son is innocent.

Rob said he understands the other side's right to appeal the prosecutor's decision.

Rob also cautioned public officials against abusing their power and position.

Despite the controversy, he said his family remains calm and confident because official documents, clinical validations and the truth support their position.
