MANILA, Philippines — Newcomer Nathan Randal is headlining the special post-Father’s Day show titled “Love Songs for My Father” tonight at 7 at the Hacienda Isabella. The fast-rising artist shares the stage with Original Pilipino Music (OPM) icon Kuh Ledesma.

It’s probably Nathan’s eighth show with the Pop Diva if memory serves him right.

“So, (I’m) really blessed. Thank God,” said he in a virtual chat with this paper.

“I think throughout the years, it has changed and it has evolved in its way,” added he, describing the working and collaborative dynamics between him and the seasoned singer. “At first, when I started to do a couple of shows with Ms. Kuh, I was, first of all, starstruck because, of course, it’s the icon and the (Pop) Diva Ms. Kuh Ledesma, and the fact that I’m sharing the stage with her, it’s kinda like it’s such an honor.”

“I recall those days whenever I shared the stage with Ms. Kuh, it made me more confident, and (she) never really lacks appreciation, and the fact that she always wants me to believe more in my talent and in myself,” added Nathan, who grew up listening to the songs of Kuh.

So, the young artist has had the opportunities to learn lessons from Kuh and gain insights by observing how she works during rehearsals and performances.

“Singing isn’t just about performing. It’s more about worship and your praise to God, like ‘Thank you for the talent,’” shared he. “Your humbleness, that’s another one. The humbleness you have on stage. When you’re on stage, it’s not just (that) you’re performing, you’re singing. We’re entertainers. We entertain people. It’s (the goal) to create an experience while those people are watching you. They’re having a break and want to relax and enjoy. I want them to feel comfortable. I want them to feel welcome. I want them to feel the nostalgia every time they see (me) perform on stage.”

“Another one is (having) a little more self-confidence, not in the sense of (being) mayabang, just believing in yourself and knowing what you can do and always be grateful for that and, of course, the opportunity you’ve been given,” added he, “and always think about where you came from.”

As for the concert, “Love Songs for My Father,” Nathan will not only share his story but also the story of his father, who nurtured his appreciation for music. He also dedicates the show to all fathers. Also gracing the event as special guests are A.R.T.E. artists Kellen, Radhni and Zannah, Isabella, Fe De Los Reyes and Constantino Ledesma.

“Every song in this concert carries a special meaning, but the songs that talk about love, gratitude and family remind me the most of my relationship with my father,” said he in a piece of information given to The STAR. “They bring back memories of growing up listening to music with him and the many moments we shared through songs.”

A.R.T.E. Theater, located at Hacienda Isabella, on the other hand, is where the presentation will be mounted. Its name stands for “Arts. Restaurant. Theater. Entertainment,” shared by its publicity team. It was established by Kuh “as part of her long-standing commitment to supporting the arts and nurturing future generations of performers,” it added, “and it represents the latest chapter in (her) efforts to build spaces where artists can learn, perform and grow.”

Although he has tried his hand at acting in shows like “Project Loki” and “Mutya ng Section E,” Nathan is focused on singing and performing.

He shared that he and a recording label will embark on a revival-songs project. They’re in the process of finding out the songs that fit his voice. He will also do a music video for another song.

What also keeps Nathan busy these days is his studies. He is taking up nursing in college.
