Gilas may laban sa gold sa Asian Games kung...

SEVILLE, Spain - Kung maipapadala niya ang parehong Gilas Pilipinas team sa Asian Games sa Incheon Korea, sinabi ni coach Chot Reyes na lalaban sila para sa gold medal.

“With a few breaks and as long as we stay healthy, I think we can go all the way (beating everybody), including Iran,” sabi ni Reyes.

Ngunit inaalala pa ng Gilas ang kanilang Asian Games lineup, kasama rito si naturalized player  Andray  Blatche na ang Asiad eligibility ay kinuku­westiyon ng Incheon Asian Games Organizing Committee (IAGOC).

May isyu rin sa kalusu­gan at kondisyon ang Gilas matapos ang limang ma­bibigat na laban sa FIBA World Cup.

“That’s why it’s really hard to say right now because we don’t know what’s our lineup is,” wika ni Reyes. “Nakakapanghinayang if we’re not allowed to bring this team.”

Nariyan si Marcus Douthit kung hindi papayagang makalaro si Blatche sa Asiad.

“The dynamics, however, will be completely different. Ibang-iba ang team na ito with Andray and with Marcus,” ani Reyes.

Magkakaroon din ng pagbabago sa backcourt dahil sa pagbabalik sa lineup ni Jimmy Alapag.

Mismong si SBP president Manny V. Pangilinan ang gustong isama si Alapag sa National team dahil sa kanyang magandang ipinakita sa world meet.

Kakailanganin ni Reyes si Alapag dahil sa mga injuries nina Jayson Castro, Paul Lee at Marc Pingris.

Sinabi nina Alapag at Reyes na pag-uusapan nila ang Asian Games sa kanilang pagbabalik sa Manila.
