Get rid of stubborn fat

DIRECT LINE - Boy Abunda - The Philippine Star

Two or three billion people are fat according to latest statistics. Therefore, a large part of this massive community is abound with weight wars. “Ang daling tumaba, ang hirap magpapayat, lalo na pag tumatanda,” is a common complaint you would hear from many people. However, bulges should no longer be a problem these days. With all the fat-reduction technologies available — many of them non-invasive, contact-free and painless — getting rid of unwanted fat deposits is no longer a problem that it used to be.

The Aesthetic Institute of the Philippines (AIP) recently launched two newest slimming technologies in town: The Vanquish and the Exilis Elite. During the launch which was attended by members of the press and some celebrities, BTL Aesthetics’ Southeast Asian manager Petra Kopecka explained how the revolutionary slimming machines work.

The Vanquish is not just non-invasive; it does not even touch the body. It is an exciting and new non-surgical technology that selectively targets fat cells and destroys them without harming other tissues like skin or muscle.

According to AIP Clinic operations manager Denden Urbano, “Vanquish delivers energy to areas of unwanted fat in the form of radio frequency, a type of energy that changes the temperature of selected tissues. With Vanquish, the target is fat, not skin, muscle or other tissues. When the fat hits the targeted temperature, the fat cells are destroyed. Once the fat cells have been destroyed, your body clears them away in a manner similar to the way you clear up a bruise. There is no downtime, no compression garments and no special instructions you have to follow.”

And best of all, it’s perfectly safe. Patients as young as 18 and up to 20-plus pounds overweight can undergo this procedure to improve problem areas around the midsection that even a dedicated exercise and strict diet program cannot seem to banish, particularly the abdomen and so-called “muffin top” or love handles. It’s also best for patients who are experiencing hormonal changes or slowing down metabolism.

The Vanquish applicator panels do not make direct contact with the skin so the treatment is extremely safe, comfortable and without downtime or significant side effects. The machine panels are shaped like an upside down “υ” that you lay underneath.

The recommended course of treatment is four sessions lasting about 30 minutes each. “Results can be seen as early as one week, and the final results can be seen as soon as two weeks after the last treatment,” explain the people behind AIP.

Of course, as this is a targeted spot reduction treatment and not a weight loss system, you still need to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Even if the fat reduction is permanent, you can still gain weight in other areas.

Meanwhile, the Exilis Elite is a non-surgical procedure which uses radio frequency (RF) energy for body and face contouring and skin tightening. During the treatment, controlled radio frequency energy is used to heat the deep layers of the skin. This causes fat cells to shrink and contracts the skin tissue, stimulating new collagen production in the process.

Exilis Elite is recommended for patients age 25 and 70+ who wish to have cosmetic improvement in areas that show signs of aging. Areas that can be treated are the face, eyes, neck, jowls, abdomen, arms, thighs, buttocks, love handles and fat rolls on the back. It is recommended to undergo four to six treatments to achieve best results. Each treatment lasts for 30- to 45-minute visit, scheduled seven to 14 days apart, and there is no downtime following the procedure.

These two are the latest in a series of technological innovations and procedures introduced by the AIP Clinic. In November, 2013, it launched the Revlite Skin Perfecting Laser; in March this year, it passed the meticulous audit of TUV Rheinland, a German Standard Management Organization, making AIP the first and only Aesthetic Clinic with this International Quality Standard accreditation.

But there’s nothing that works as well as a real experience. During the event, Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) AVP for Entertainment Bong Quintana shared his experience with Vanquish and Exilis Elite and even showed what it did for him by sharing his before-and-after photos.

So for people who want to get rid of their stubborn belly fat without pain and who dream of achieving a desirable body contour, this maybe the answer.
