Waterfront's New Executive Chef

CEBU, Philippines - As Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino's "Gourmet Walk" has successfully brought slews of Cebu's most discerning guests and diners its way, the hotel recently celebrated a proud hallmark in its culinary repertoire, with a new Executive Chef taking charge of maintaining and innovating its featured signature dishes and season-inspired menus.

Born and raised in Germany, the internationally-acclaimed Simon Sperling adds a new and significant zing to Waterfront's reputation for exciting and engaging culinary creations, backed by his 30-year experience in sating cuisine cravings to satisfying ends.

Realizing his passion for cooking at an early age, Sperling's professional career began early in his life, pursing a career in the food industry soon after finishing high school.

From apprentice chef to master chef, his dedication to the craft had led him to stints in different hotels and resorts based in different parts of the world, preceded by his experience as the executive chef for Celebrity Cruise Lines.

Having been to four continents and having worked in 12 countries, Sperling's culinary masterpieces are inspired by his passion for Mediterranean cuisine, a passion which has earned him the nods of some of the world's most discerning palates.

"I always take the time in understanding local flavors and what impact they have in whatever it is I am working on," shares Sperling, when asked about his approach in crafting his masterpieces.

"Its like putting the pieces of a puzzle together, mixing and matching ingredients and seasonings, eventually coming up with a flavor that is perfect, one that is truly distinct and unique."

With Sperling now taking on the Executive Chef duties of Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino, a refreshed take in all of Waterfront's featured culinary offerings can only be expected to come.

With his extensive years of training, his experience in dealing with people in multi-cultural environments and with his dedication to his craft, Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino's new Executive Chef is certainly more than just a valuable addition to the hotel's Food and Beverage Division, but also a major contributor in causing significant shifts in Cebu's overall culinary standards, de factos and norms.
