Free lectures on Buteyko breathing technique set
October 29, 2001 | 12:00am
A visiting practitioner of the Buteyko method of breathing reconditioning will give some free introductory lectures in Manila about this revolutionary technique which has already significantly assisted many Filipinos with asthma, allergies, sleep and anxiety disorders, rhinitis, sinusitis, chronic bronchitis and even emphysema.
Dr. K.P. Buteyko, a Russian respiratory specialist, concluded that there is a profound relationship between our breathing pattern, level of health, and the occurrence of various conditions.
Some of the founding fathers of modern medicine had reached similar conclusions. Buteyko devised this drug-free and surgery-free method which allows the participants to retrain the involuntary breathing mechanism with a tailored and supervised program.
The technique is taught extensively in Russia, Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and more recently, in Southeast Asia and the United States.
Several medical trials in Australia have indicated that asthmatics can dramatically reduce symptoms and medication safety and quickly using the Buteyko Method.
Jac Vidgen, an Australian-trained Buteyko practitioner who is based in Bangkok and working in the Asian region, is here to give lectures and workshops on the following dates: Nov. 5, 6, 7, 12, 20 (Makati); Nov. 8, 9, 10, 13, 21 (Cubao); Nov. 14, 15, 16, 22, 26 (Ateneo); and Nov. 17, 18, 19, 23, 27 (Kinderhaus).
