Banco de Oros (BDO) Trust Banking Group got the No. 1 ranking as Fund Manager in the Watson Wyatts Survey in Investment Performance of retirement funds in the Philippines for the whole year 2001.
The BDO Trust Group also bagged the No. 1 slot as Fund Manager in the same survey, for two consecutive quarters ending Sept. 30 and Dec. 31, 2001.
Watson Wyatt has been conducting this survey since 1984 and to date, there are 174 retirement funds and 16 fund managers competing in the survey for the best investment performance in retirement fund.
From among the fund managers with at least five participating funds in the survey, BDO has the highest average return on investment at 14.10 percent per annum for the quarter ending Dec. 31, 2001, and 15 percent for the quarter ending Sept. 30, 2001.
This achievement is an affirmation of the continuous efforts of the bank to provide its customers with higher returns on their investments. The strong growth in the banks trust assets which grew by about 40 percent (based on yearend figures) last year, even as the total industry assets declined by about three percent, may be seen as evidence of customer satisfaction with the banks trust services.
Ador A. Abrogena, BDO Trust Banking Group head, said "this year and the coming years ahead, we anticipate intensified competition but also see plenty of opportunities. Capital market development is a priority of government and the recent and prospective rules allow for a bigger role for the trust industry towards this end. To fulfill this role, we would like to see more investors realize the value of placing their funds in the care of a trust or investment manager who is able to keep their funds safe but also to provide them with the best yields available in the market. BDO Trust is, therefore, committed to constantly develop products responsive to our customers needs and maximize the returns on their funds within risk levels they are comfortable with."
