Content creator Baus Rufo laughs off 'Unang Hirit' on-air slip-up

MANILA, Philippines — Content creator and podcaster Baus Rufo took his on-air mistake in stride after accidentally greeting viewers as “Mga Kapamilya” instead of “Mga Kapuso” during his guest appearance on GMA Network's morning program “Unang Hirit.”

The slip occurred during Rufo's first live appearance on the morning show. Realizing the mistake immediately, he quickly corrected himself and explained that it was his first time hosting on a live morning broadcast.

Following the incident, Rufo poked fun at himself on social media, sharing a video of the moment and joking that his “Unang Hirit” appearance had become his “first and last episode.” 

“Willing po ako to work overtime without pay at mag-choreograph ng Christmas party number for free,” he said on Facebook.

The content creator had previously expressed excitement about making his debut on the show, posting ahead of the broadcast that he hoped to wake up on time for his guesting. After the viral moment, netizens joined in the laughter, with many teasing him about the accidental greeting.

Fortunately for Rufo, the mistake did not affect his standing with the program. He later shared a message from an Unang Hirit researcher inviting him to return as a host the following day, prompting him to joke, “Okay buhay pa tayo.”

Rufo is best known as one of the hosts of the popular podcast “Dogshow Divas” alongside Mark "Macoy Dubs" Averilla. He also appears as one of the “Celebri-peeps” on the GMA Network game show “The People Have Spoken.”
