MANILA, Philippines — American YouTube content creator Jimmy Donaldson, better known as MrBeast, just hit a new milestone on the platform as the first individual to amass half a billion subscribers.

It has been two years since MrBeast obtained the crown for the most-followed YouTuber, just under a couple of years after becoming the most-subscribed individual creator.

Videos that aided him to reach 500 million subscribers were the likes of "$456,000 Squid Game In Real Life!," "50 YouTubers Fight for $1,000,000," and the recent "50 Streamers Fight for $1,000,000" just last April.

More than 600,000 people watched MrBeast livestream the moment his channel crossed the new threshold, the creator popping confetti before addressing viewers with personal reflections.

"I just want to take this moment to inspire some of you, because if you don't like the position you're in, hopefully this could give you the fire to try something out. It was a lot of work to get to this point," he said. "Go chase your dreams, and you can do it. I'm grateful for every single one of you that is subscribed to this channel."

Some days later, YouTube's chief executive officer Neal Mohan presented MrBeast with a customized 500M Play Button featuring a silver, diamond-textured base wrapped in a 3D design with his Beast Panther logo.

"This achievement is a testament to what's possible when a creator has the freedom to follow their creativity and be their authentic selves," Mohan said. "Jimmy, you are an incredible innovator and we're so proud to be part of your journey."

MrBeast then posted an image of his new trophy beside his other milestone Play Buttons.

The YouTube channels behind MrBeast in terms of subscriber count are India's "T-Series" and the popular "Cocomelon" with 312 million and 201 million subscibers, respectively.
