MANILA, Philippines — Former beauty queen Sandra Lemonon and her husband, former PBA player Sol Mercado, are now a family of four after welcoming their second child, a baby girl named Zaliyah Joie Mercado.

Sandra shared the happy news on Instagram, posting photos documenting her unique birthing experience—a home water birth that lasted 15 hours of active labor.

“Welcome home, Zaliyah Joie Mercado. It’s been 10 days since we welcomed you in the comfort of our home,” Sandra wrote.

“[Fifteen] hours of active labour. I’ve never felt so strong/connected and so weak/humbled in my entire life,” she added.

Despite the long and physically demanding labor, Sandra said everything became worthwhile the moment she finally held her newborn daughter.

“I’ve prayed for you my sweet love and you have blessed us with your loving presence and healing energy,” she said.

“You have healed parts of me that needed to be fortified/grown and you have mended our bloodlines just by your being you,” she added.

Sandra also expressed gratitude for the support she received from her family throughout the labor.

She described giving birth at home as a particularly meaningful experience, allowing her to remain in a familiar and comfortable environment while welcoming her daughter.

“I pray that more mothers get to have the same/better care than I have received,” the former beauty queen said.

Sandra and Sol tied the knot in Bali, Indonesia, in September 2024.

The couple welcomed their first child, Zaiah Rafael, in June 2022. With the arrival of Zaliyah, their family has now grown to four.
