Janine’s career milestone made sweeter by bf Jericho

MANILA, Philippines — Having portrayed a string of meaty and challenging roles, Janine Gutierrez is at a stage in her career where she is living her dream as an actress yet she continues to aspire to achieve even more.
Janine is grateful to see many of her long-held dreams come true while remaining excited about the opportunities that still lie ahead.
“Looking back, you know this is really my dream to do a contract signing with ABS-CBN. I feel that unti-unti, natutupad ko yung mga pangarap ko and at the same time, there are still things that I want to do,” she said during the presscon following her contract signing with Star Magic.
She is also thankful to have a solid support system behind her, citing Star Magic, her manager and boyfriend Jericho Rosales, who is celebrating his 30th year in the showbiz industry this year.

“I’m grateful because I know that I’m surrounded by people who are so much smarter than me, so much more experienced. Also pati kayo na bata pa lang ako, nandiyan na kayo sa press. Haha!”
Among the roles closest to Janine’s heart is Alexa, the protagonist in the mystery drama series “Dirty Linen,” who sought revenge against a powerful family.
“It’s not because of anything negative,” she explained. “It’s because I’m just very grateful that I was able to do it because it’s a dream role for me. And yung buong experience na yung set namin parang studio, lahat kami magkakasama, locked in, so talagang naging close din lahat. The story is very beautiful. Pakiramdam ko may pagka-timeless siya. So it’s one of my favorites.”
After sharing the screen with Jericho in “Lavender Fields,” Janine has reunited with him in the suspense-thriller series “The Loyalty Game,” now streaming on Prime Video.
According to the media release, “The Loyalty Game” follows Ben (Jericho), a respected lawyer and senatorial candidate, and Anna (Janine), his devoted wife, who are admired by their community as the picture of a perfect couple. But beneath their seemingly ideal relationship lies a web of secrets that threatens to unravel everything they have built together.
Driven by growing suspicions that her husband may be hiding something, Anna hires a group of loyalty testers to uncover the truth. As her investigation deepens, she finds herself drawn into a dangerous game where trust is tested, loyalties shift and every discovery brings unexpected consequences.
“I thought it was a simple role at first while discovering something about her husband but yun pala sobrang layered din nung role ni Anna. And I’m excited because it’s with Jericho again but this time, it’s a different dynamic, malayong-malayo from ‘Lavender Fields.’”
She told The STAR that she did not expect Anna’s character to be as complex and challenging as it turned out to be. “When I did Iris, an antagonist (in ‘Lavender Fields’), it was challenging for me. And I thought na now since hindi naman ako yung parang ‘kontrabida,’ akala ko parang mas comfort zone ko, hindi pala.
“Because it’s a layered role, she has personal and marital issues. It’s not only a drama but it has mystery and thriller elements. Ibang klase din ang hinihingi ni direk Mae (Cruz-Alviar) sa akin at sa mga artista dito.”
Aside from “The Loyalty Game,” Janine will also appear in the horror family drama “Mag-iina,” one of the entries in the 2026 Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival, this August. She is likewise set to star in Netflix’s upcoming horror series “Balaraw.”
During her contract signing with Star Magic, Janine expressed her gratitude to the ABS-CBN executives present at the event, including Star Magic head Laurenti Dyogi, ABS-CBN chairman Mark Lopez, ABS-CBN president and CEO Carlo Katigbak, ABS-CBN COO for broadcast Cory Vidanes, ABS-CBN Group CFO Rick Tan, Star Magic senior talent manager and head of Star Magic marketing Alan Real, and her co-manager, Pinky Angudong.
“I’m grateful to be a Kapamilya, dahil ramdam na ramdam ko talaga yung support and the love of our bosses, our Kapamilya staff, and all our Kapamilyas at home and abroad. It just means so much to me to be part of something greater than myself, and that’s something truly in the service of the Filipino whether it could be through our TV shows, news, through our charity and foundation,” she said.
Proud boyfriend Jericho was also present at the event, where he surprised Janine with a bouquet of flowers.
“It’s always been about family. You started here because you love your family so much. I love that story and that you just wanted to become an artist. You’re an artist, you wanted to become an actor. Sayang you didn’t want to be a singer but you sing great ‘pag tayong dalawa lang,” Jericho told Janine.
He added that he was happy Janine has a loving family and a strong network behind her, supporting her dreams.
“And you’re in good hands and you know that… Have so much fun. I’m so proud of you. I love you. Ang swerte mo kasi I never had this eh. Tita Cory, I never had this ha, ganyang kalaking picture tapos may flowers and Diego (Janine’s brother) singing. But it’s OK, I’m a Kapamilya forever. You know that.
