Choosy beggars

THE EAR - The Freeman

BEGGARS. Every now and then poor children would beg for food from houses in a subdivision in barangay Tisa. The usual mantra was "Mangayo mi ug pagkaon (Please give us food)." Homeowners seldom refuse them food. One particular day, a homeowner gave a group of these children some bread and German frankfurters.

CHOOSY. The following day, the same group of children visited the same house and asked for food again. The mantra was recited once more with something added to it which made the homeowner laugh. It went like this: "Mangayo mi ug pagkaon kanang hotdog, ha?"
