History has shown that the most powerful way to unite people towards a common purpose is a noble ideology borne out of shared, often painful, experiences. This was evident to me in a short film showing Americans of all walks of life enjoying the basic freedoms, with the soundtrack of America the Beautiful being played in movie theaters in New York. Watching the film, and feeling the emotions of the audience, I realized that a major cross-section of America has a similar aspiration, and shares common experiences.

Malacañang Spokesman Rigoberto Tiglao said the government will unveil at the summit a set of short-term economic programs to help the country deal with the global slowdown brought about by the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on the United States.
"But what’s important here is that very concrete proposals would be made instead of just having motherhood statements," he said.
