Petron chair and CEO Nicasio Alcantara and president Khalid Al-Faddagh gave the awards in simple ceremonies at the Petron Megaplaza Building in Makati City on Jan. 15.


The five gold medalists are Donald David Geisler III, Dax Alberto Morfe, Margarita Maria Estela Bonifacio, Veronica Domingo, and Mary Antonette Rivero. Each received cash incentives of P50,000.

"I felt some pressure but I just kept my focus on my goal," said Domingo who delivered the first gold medal for the RP taekwondo team after five Filipino jins before her fell by the wayside one after the other.

Cruz beat Angelito Ong to bag the finweight gold medal while Geisler outfought Ernesto Mendoza to take the welter gold in the senior competition.
