PAGASA: Dry season is here

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) announced yesterday the end of the northeast monsoon, marking the official start of the warm and dry season across most parts of the country.
PAGASA explained that the shift in wind direction from northeasterly to easterly is caused by the formation of a high-pressure area over the northwestern Pacific.
This change in atmospheric conditions is expected to bring warmer temperatures in the coming weeks, although isolated thunderstorms may still occur.
Despite the monsoon’s conclusion, the weather bureau noted that extreme northern Luzon may continue to experience sporadic northeasterly winds.
“The public is advised to take precautionary measures to minimize heat stress and optimize the daily use of water for personal and domestic consumption,” PAGASA stated.
The dry season in the Philippines, which typically lasts from March to May, is characterized by higher temperatures, drier conditions and an increased risk of heat-related illnesses.
