MANILA, Philippines — First Lady Liza Marcos honored women ambassadors and female spouses of heads of diplomatic missions in the country during a cocktail reception at Malacañang on Thursday as part of the celebration of National Women’s Month.

The First Lady shared photos of the gathering held at the Kalayaan Hall on Facebook over the weekend.

“Tonight, we honor the grace and the strength of women who lead us not only with wisdom but with purpose,” the First Lady said in her remarks.

“Excellencies, your presence here is more than symbolic. It’s powerful. You carry not only the voices of your nations but also the aspirations of countless of women who see in you a reflection of what is possible,” she said.

“To women who lead, to women who lift, and to women who continue to pave the way, may your influence know no boundaries,” she said.

A video posted by the First Lady on social media also showed female envoys dancing with other guests. They were also given a tour inside the Palace.

In his message during the commemoration of International Women’s Day on March 8, President Marcos vowed to vigorously push for the rights of women, a sector he described as an “unshakeable force” that has contributed immensely to the development of the country.

The President said women have played a crucial role in shaping the nation’s narrative, citing the babaylans (pre-colonial spiritual leaders), katipuneras and Filipina guerrillas of the past and today’s frontliners, professional trailblazers and visionary leaders.
