Kevin Quiambao naniwala sa sistema ni Robinson sa Game 2

MANILA, Philippines — Mabilis na tumugon si back-to-back Most Valuable Player Kevin Quiambao nang sabihan siya ni La Salle coach Topex Robinson na hindi siya kasama sa starting five sa Game 2 ng UAAP Season 87 men’s basketball championship kontra University of the Phi­lippines.

Naging matagumpay naman ang adjustments ni Ro­binson dahil nakaipon ng lakas si Quiambao at pi­nasan ang Green Archers sa 76-75 pagtakas sa Fighting Maroons noong Miyerkules.

“I told KQ that he wouldn’t start, he just said, ‘Okay, coach,” ani Robinson, “That’s already a sign of somebody who trusts the system, trusts the person calling the shots, and you don’t hear any questions from him. No reaction.”

Gayunpaman ay si Quiam­bao pa rin ang may pi­nakamahabang playing time sa mahigit 32 minuto at inirehistro ang 22 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists at 1 steal para tulungan ang La Salle na makatabla sa UP at makahirit sila ng deciding Game 3 sa Linggo.

Nagsimulang lumiyab ang opensa ni Quiambao nang malubog ang Green Archers ng walong puntos sa kalagitnaan ng fourth period.

Sa Linggo ay inaasa­hang itotodo ng defending champions ang kanilang la­kas upang mapanatili ang korona sa Taft.
