DETROIT -- Kumpirmado nang nagpositibo si Pistons forward Christian Wood sa pagkakaroon ng coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Si Wood ang naging ikatlong NBA player na may COVID-19 matapos sina center Rudy Go­bert at guard Donovan M­itchell ng Utah Jazz, nilabanan ang Detroit noong nakaraang linggo.

Kinumpirma ng Pistons kagabi na mayroon silang player na nagpositibo sa pagkakaroon ng COVID-19 at hindi ibinun­yag ang pangalan nito.

Sinabi ng koponan ang nasabing player ay kasalukuyang nasa self-isolation simula noong Miyerkules.

“A preliminary positive result came back on March 14,” pahayag ng Pistons sa isang official statement. “The health and safety of our players, our organization, those throughout our league, and all those potentially impacted by this situation is paramount.”

Iniulat ng The Athletic na si Wood ay nakaramdam ng “subtle symptoms” noong Huwebes at nagdesisyong magpa-test.

Nagkainitan sina Wood at Gobert sa laban ng Pistons at Jazz noong Marso 7 sa Detroit na nagresulta sa kanilang double technical fouls.

Tumapos si Wood na may 30 points at 11 rebounds, habang kumolekta si Gobert ng 10 points at 12 rebounds.

Ang 24-anyos na si Wood ay nasa kanyang breakout season bago sinuspindi ng NBA ang kanilang season bunga ng banta ng COVID-19.

Nagtala si Wood ng mga averages na 13.1 points at 6.3 rebounds sa 62 games.

Samantala, negatibo naman sa COVID-19 si referee Courtney Kirkland.

Si Kirkland ang isa sa mga officials na namahala sa laro ng New Orleans Pelicans at host Sacramento Kings noong Miyerkules.
