Express nagpalakas sa q’finals Sutton, Taulava nagbida

MANILA, Philippines - Mula sa dikitang laro sa first half ay kumawala ang Air21 sa third period para talunin ang Meralco, 80-67,  at makisalo sa ika­la­wang posisyon sa 2014 PBA Governors’ Cup ka­gabi sa Philsports Arena sa Pasig City.

Sa huli nilang tatlong laro sa eliminasyon ay kailangan ng Express na maipanalo ang dalawa nilang asignatura para makatiyak ng tiket sa quarterfinal round.

“In our last three games we’re looking at winning two or three games just for assurance,” sabi ni Air21 head coach Franz Pumaren, nakahugot ng 25 points at 17 rebounds kay import Dominique Sutton at 22 markers at 16 boards kay 6-foot-10 Asi Taulava.

Nagsalpak sina Sutton at Joseph Yeo ng pitong free throws para ilayo ang Air21 sa 77-63 sa huling minuto ng labanan.

“Now we have four days off before our next game,” ani Pumaren. “It’s been a difficult time for us. We didn’t have the luxury of practicing well as a team because of our schedule.”

Nagdagdag si Mac Cardona ng 11 points kasunod ang 7 ni Aldrech Ramos para sa Air21.

Pinamunuan naman ni forward Cliff Hodge ang Meralco sa kanyang 18 markers. (RCadayona)
