Anak ng Clippers owner natagpuang patay
LOS ANGELES -- Natagpuang patay ang anak ni Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling dahil sa drug overdose sa kanyang tahanan sa Malibu, ayon sa mga awtoridad.
Nakita ang bangkay ng 32-anyos na si Scott Ashley Sterling sa ganap na alas-11:30 ng gabi, ayon kay Los Angeles County coroner’s Lt. Larry Dietz.
Nagpalabas naman ng kanilang official statement ang 77-anyos na si Donald Sterling, isang billionaire real estate mogul na bumili sa Clippers noong 1981, at kanyang asawang si Shelley.
Sinabi ng mag-asawa na isang diabetic si Scott Ashley.
“Our son Scott has fought a long and valiant battle against Type 1 Diabetes,” sabi sa statement. “His death is a terrible tragedy, the effects of which will be felt forever by our family and all those who knew and loved him.”
Mula sa pagiging mahinang koponan sa mga nakaraang seasons, kinatatakutan ngayon ang Clippers dahil sa paglalaro nina Chris Paul at Blake Griffin.
Nagtala ang Clippers ng isang franchise-record na 17-game winning streak na nagwakas naman noong Martes.
Ang Clippers ay nasa Golden State noong Miyerkules ng gabi.
“All our thoughts and prayers go out to the Sterling family,” wika ni head coach Vinny Del Negro. “Tough day for everybody in the Clippers’ organization, but just thinking about Mr. and Mrs. Sterling with their loss. That’s first and foremost on everybody’s mind today when we had our meeting this morning. Not an easy situation. I just hope they know that we’re thinking about them and that the team is, and we’ll be back soon. Things like this put things in perspective real quick. I know a lot of good thoughts and prayers are in that locker room with them tonight. That’s the first and foremost thing.”
Sinabi naman ni Team President Andy Roeser na “Scott was a friend to many in the Clippers’ family and he will be greatly missed.”
Nakiramay naman si NBA Commissioner David Stern sa mga Sterlings.
