Jarin kapalit ni Racela sa National Youth team
MANILA, Philippines - Si Ateneo high school coach at college basketball assistant Jamike Jarin ang siyang ipinalit ng Sama-hang Basketbol ng Pilipinas kay Olsen Racela bilang coach ng Philippine under-16 squad ngayong taon.
Ito ang inihayag ni SBP executive director Sonny Barrios ukol sa pagtatalaga kay Jarin, iginiya ang Blue Eaglets sa walong UAAP juniors championships sa kanyang 13-year stint.
Si Racela ang humawak sa National under-16 team bago nahirang bilang bagong head coach ng Petron Blaze Boosters sa PBA.
“He’s taking over this year as coach of the Natio-nal under-16 team,” sabi ni Barrios kay Jarin.
“I was told by my SBP bosses as early as last December during the congress and my first task this year is to officially inform him of his appointment,” dagdag pa nito.
Ikinatuwa naman ng 42-anyos na si Jarin, nagsilbing assistant coach sa loob ng 15 taon sa Blue Eagles kung saan sila nanalo ng anim na UAAP crowns kasama ang five-peat feat sa ilalim ni mentor Norman Black, ang kanyang bagong trabaho.
“It’s always an honor to be part of the National team,” sabi ni Jarin, isang assistant coach din sa Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters ni Black sa PBA.
“We’re still waiting for the official appointment but If I’m given the green signal, I’ll start working so that we could have a good head start,” dagdag ni Jarin.
