Rainbow crosswalk, footbridge sa Pasig binuksan ng MMDA sa Pride Month

MANILA, Philippines — Binuksan ng Metropolitan Manila Development Autho­rity (MMDA) ang isang pedestrian lane at isang footbridge bilang “rainbow crosswalk at overpass” sa harap ng punong tanggapan sa Barangay Ugong, Pasig City, bilang suporta sa pakikipag-alyansa sa LGBTQIA+ community ngayong Pride Month.

Ayon kay MMDA Acting Chairman Don Artes, ang rainbow-painted crosswalk at footbridge ay makatutulong sa sense of belonging at pakiramdam sa seguridad para sa mga LGBTQIA+ na indibidwal, na naghihikayat sa kanila na ganap at hayagang lumahok sa publiko.

“In MMDA, there is no discrimination. All are welcome and given equal employment opportunities regardless of sexual preference,” ani Artes.

“The adoption of rainbow crosswalk and footbridge is just a symbolic start towards more concrete plans and projects for gender inclusivity,” dagdag pa ng opisyal.

Sinabi naman ni Pasig City Rep. Roman Romulo na ang pag-unveil ng rainbow pedestrian crossing at footbridge malapit sa tanggapan ng MMDA ay nagpapakita na ang lungsod ay para sa inclusivity.

Ang ceremonial ribbon cutting noong Lunes ay dinaluhan din ng kapitan ng Barangay Ugong na si Gloria P. Cruz, Valle Verde 3 Homeowners Association President Alma Horn, at mga opisyal ng MMDA.
